Asian Corned Beef
Asian corned beef is a flavorful and satisfying dish that combines the savory taste of corned beef with the bold and spicy flavors of Asian cuisine. It is a great way to use up leftover corned beef and make it into a new and exciting meal. Here is a recipe for Asian corned beef:
- 2 cups cooked corned beef, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Cooked rice, for serving
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, and ginger and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add the red bell pepper and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Add the corned beef to the skillet and stir to combine.
In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, Chinese five-spice powder, and sesame oil. Pour the mixture into the skillet and bring it to a boil.
In a separate small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Stir the slurry into the skillet, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and the sauce is thick and flavorful.
Serve the Asian corned beef over cooked rice and garnish with chopped scallions or cilantro, if desired. Enjoy!
